Reset your mind in 30-seconds

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

Good Morning Ladies,

Remember that really cliche saying, "You can't pour from an empty cup"? Well, I'm sorry to tell you that this saying is absolutely true.

So today, as you clean up your children's toys, as you scroll through recipes on Pinterest, as you very carefully reflect on your week ahead to pencil in appointments, work meetings, and the like...I want you to breathe.

I mean it...breathe. Inhale through your nose, then out through your mouth. Now do it again. And again. Close your eyes and remind yourself of your ideal self and your ideal day. What feelings would you want to feel today? What do you want to be your priority?

Doing these quick check-ins throughout the day can help you stay calm, remind you of your values and needs, and help you slow down your mind and body as your thoughts and heart race just to get through the day. I know this isn't how you want to live your life--just getting through!

So take 30-second "mental breaks" throughout each day to reflect and reset. To get you started with developing this helpful habit, think about what times would be ideal for you to do this. Maybe you start by setting a reminder to check in with yourself right before your first cup of coffee, during your lunch/snack break, and right before dinner. The times you choose and the amount of times are up to you--the important thing is that you do something that actually works for you. If you find 3 times per day to be unrealistic, try starting with 2; if 2 times per day is too much, start by checking in once each day.

Okay, now...it's time for you to take control of your day! You got this.
